Backflow Testing

Backflow Prevention Testing to Protect Your Water

Whether you’re a homeowner or manage a homeowners association or commercial property, backflow testing is an important part of the annual maintenance of your irrigation system. Your backflow device, also known as a pressure vacuum breaker (PVB) or reduced pressure zone valve (RPZ), keeps contaminated water out of your property’s water supply. Typically tested before turning your irrigation system on in the spring, each of our technicians are certified to inspect all components of your backflow device system.

Sprinkler systems are designed and serviced to make your landscape look its best, but because they are there to “feed” the vegetation, they are open to everything that goes onto the landscape like pesticides, animal waste, fertilizer, etc. A backflow preventer is a necessary component to your irrigation system as it stops all of the harsh elements from entering the home or commercial property.

Backflow testing requires an additional irrigation license and protects you and your neighbors from potential sickness. When backflow does occur, contaminated water mixes with your drinkable water. It may result in a drop in water pressure to your home or discolored water.

If you’ve never had your backflow device tested or are having your irrigation system opened this summer and would like it tested then, please call our team at Conserva Irrigation to help! We look forward to working with you.

Benefits of Backflow Testing
  • Arrive on Time

A Conserva Licensed and Certified Backflow Tester will arrive at your house when scheduled and will introduce themselves to you. If this is their first time at your property they may need to be directed to the location of the backflow device.

  • Device Testing & Grading

The technician will test the backflow device for efficacy and make note of the results on the required backflow test form.

  • Analysis

If the device passes the test, you will be informed of such and the required paperwork will be filed, if applicable. If the device fails the test, you will be approached with options to remedy the device. If no action is taken, the device will be tagged with a failure notice and shut off.
