Irrigation Services in Columbus
Full-Service Residential & Commercial Irrigation for Central Ohio
Most Columbus-area homeowners don’t realize their sprinkler system is losing water until they see the bill. Inefficient systems, worn nozzles, and outdated controllers quietly waste hundreds of gallons per cycle. At Conserva Irrigation of Columbus, formerly AK Irrigation, we’ve been helping homeowners in Westerville, Dublin, Delaware, Gahanna, Hilliard, New Albany, and throughout Columbus fix exactly that since 2010. Irrigation is our company’s sole focus, which means every inspection, installation, and repair gets our full attention.
Our eco-friendly residential and Commercial Irrigation & Multi-Location Management Services are built around one goal: a healthy lawn that doesn’t waste water. Smart irrigation systems can reduce water usage by up to 60% compared to conventional setups, though results vary by property and system condition.

Installation, Repair, & Maintenance Packages
We handle the full lifecycle of an irrigation system. Whether you need a new system designed and installed from scratch, a broken zone repaired, or a smarter maintenance schedule, our team covers it. As partners with Toro and Hunter, we work with industry-leading products built for durability and efficiency. Every sprinkler repair visit also includes a complimentary system inspection.
For ongoing care, we offer two maintenance packages designed to keep your system performing season after season:
Nice ‘N Easy Package (from $195/year)
Includes summerization, winterization, and priority scheduling. A straightforward option for homeowners who want their system properly started up in spring and shut down before Ohio’s ground freezes.
Full Season Package (from $295/year)
Includes everything in Nice ‘N Easy plus annual backflow testing and 10% off system upgrades. Ohio’s plumbing code requires backflow prevention devices on irrigation systems connected to the public water supply to be tested annually by a certified tester. A failed device can allow contaminants to flow back into the drinking water supply, so this isn’t a step to skip.
Our Five-Step System Efficiency Process
When we evaluate an irrigation system, we use a structured five-step process rather than a quick visual scan. It starts with a free inspection that produces a System Efficiency Score, a documented baseline showing exactly where your system stands. From there, we address urgent issues first, then work through sprinkler placement and nozzle optimization, controller upgrades, and a long-term maintenance plan.
Smart irrigation technology is central to meaningful water savings. A properly configured system pairs an intelligent controller with a weather sensor and a soil moisture sensor. Those sensors feed real-time conditions to the controller, so your system waters based on what your lawn actually needs rather than a fixed schedule. Upgrading to this kind of setup can reduce water usage by 40 to 60 percent, though outcomes depend on the existing system and property conditions.
Water Conservation in Columbus
Columbus draws its drinking water from the Scioto River (through Griggs and O’Shaughnessy reservoirs) and Upper Big Walnut Creek (Hoover Reservoir), together supplying roughly 1.2 million consumers across Central Ohio. Because that supply is finite, the City of Columbus can impose outdoor watering restrictions when supply is threatened, ranging from partial lawn-watering bans to full bans on nonessential use.
There’s also a billing detail worth knowing. Columbus sewer charges are based on metered water usage, with the assumption that all water flows back into the sewer. Irrigation water doesn’t. Homeowners who install an auxiliary meter for outdoor use may be able to reduce the portion of their sewer bill tied to irrigation. An efficient system reduces both the water drawn and the charges attached to it.
Schedule Your Free Inspection
New customers receive a free sprinkler system inspection. To get an accurate assessment, the system needs to be operational at the time of the visit. If repairs are needed first, we can complete them at standard rates before performing the inspection. We back all of our work with a satisfaction guarantee.
To schedule service, call (614) 420-2477 or reach us through the contact form on our site. We serve Columbus and surrounding Central Ohio communities and treat every property with the same care we’d want for our own.
