Backflow Prevention in Richmond
Certified Backflow Testing for Residential, HOA & Commercial Properties
Any irrigation system connected to Richmond’s public water supply is required to have a backflow preventer and to have it tested every year. Backflow occurs when water reverses direction in the supply line, pulling pesticides, animal waste, fertilizer, and other landscape contaminants directly into the potable water supply. The Richmond Department of Public Utilities (DPU) Cross Connection and Control Program requires annual testing of all backflow assemblies by a Virginia DPOR-certified backflow prevention device tester. Non-compliance can result in water service disconnection, and that responsibility falls on the property owner.
At Conserva Irrigation of Richmond, we offer certified backflow testing for homeowners, homeowners associations, and commercial property owners across the Richmond area. Our technicians hold the certification required to perform and document these tests, and we treat each inspection as part of the broader irrigation system lifecycle rather than a standalone compliance task. We schedule testing before turning your irrigation system on in the spring, so your system is verified and ready from the first watering of the year.
Irrigation Professionals Who Understand the Full Picture
General contractors can perform a backflow test, but irrigation-focused technicians understand the complete context: the device, the system it protects, the landscape contaminants that make protection necessary, and the Richmond DPU documentation requirements that confirm compliance. That integrated knowledge is what sets our backflow prevention service in Richmond apart. We back every visit with a satisfaction guarantee, and if a device doesn’t pass, we provide prompt repair or replacement recommendations and can install a new assembly when needed.
-
Arrive on Time
A Conserva Licensed and Certified Backflow Tester will arrive at your house when scheduled and will introduce themselves to you. If this is their first time at your property they may need to be directed to the location of the backflow device.
-
Device Testing & Grading
The technician will test the backflow device for efficacy and make note of the results on the required backflow test form.
-
Analysis
If the device passes the test, you will be informed of such and the required paperwork will be filed, if applicable. If the device fails the test, you will be approached with options to remedy the device. If no action is taken, the device will be tagged with a failure notice and shut off.
